Sensonics Ltd have secured ATEX
approval for their range of PZ Velocity Transducers,
Accelerometers and AECP Eddy Current Probes, designed for use
in the measurement of vibration and non-contact
displacement. The ATEX accreditation ensures that the
instruments are suitable in environments where potentially
explosive atmospheres may prevail.
ATEX Directive (94/9/EC) permits movement of
equipment within the European Union and ensures that
manufacturers secure certification of electrical and/or
mechanical products likely to be used in zones which could
become hazardous eg where flammable gases, vapours, mists or
dust accumulation may be present.
A wide range of instrumentation supplied by
Sensonics is designed to perform condition monitoring tasks on
a host of industrial machinery such as pumps |

and fans, gas and steam
turbines, compressors, motors and mills, compressors, motors
and mills, compressors, motors and mills, engines and
gearboxes, turbines, centrifuges, gas circulators and other
critical rotating machinery. Typical recent applications
have involved on board ship installations, airport fuel supply
lines, centrifuges, hydrogen cooled turbines and much
more.
The PZ Velocity Transducers provided by Sensonics
are extremely robust and suitable for vertical or horizontal
operation, offer a frequency range of 10Hz to 1kHz and cover a
temperature range of between -30°C to 150°C. These
instruments are particularly suited to the power generation
industry as well as to many other industrial applications;
Sensonics robust piezoelectric accelerometers contain no
moving parts, are simple to fit, have a wide frequency
response and provide the added benefit of low cost; the
company’s industrial eddy current probe systems are excellent
for high and low speed applications, including down to steady
state. They are commonly used for axial movement, phase
reference angle, reverse rotation, tapered shaft axial
position speed measurement and reciprocating compressor rod
drop monitoring.
Sensonics have also recently been
accredited the ISO 9000 : 2000 Quality Management
System. For full details of the Sensonics condition
monitoring range, see http://www.sensonics.co.uk/
